Profile
For over 24 years, David Carico has dedicated
his practice to appellate law, and has developed
the highly specialized skills necessary to
successfully pursue cases and negotiate the
intricacies of The Court of Appeal.
Just out of law school in 1983, David served as
the Staff Attorney for Justice Pauline Davis Hanson
of the California Court of Appeal, Fifth Appellate
District, in Fresno. He later went on to act as
Staff Attorney for all of the Superior Court judges
in Monterey County. It is this “insider’s”
understanding of the Court of Appeal that
David is able to employ in his daily practice
on behalf of his clients.
As the first attorney certified by the State Bar of
California as a specialist in appellate law in
Monterey County, he has argued before the
California Supreme Court, in each of the six
District Courts of Appeal in California and in
seventeen of the nineteen divisions of those
courts. David has authored numerous articles on the law and the
Appellate Courts for a variety of publications– including
the feature article on appellate law in the California Legal
Specialization Digest, published by the State Bar of California.
In addition to his credentials in Northern California, David is
currently one of only five certified
specialists in appellate law practicing in the South Bay region
of the Greater Los Angeles
area– making him arguably one of the best qualified (and well-traveled)
appellate attorneys
in California.
His areas of appellate practice include state criminal and civil
appeals, federal criminal and civil appeals, as well as cases in
family, juvenile and contract law. His depth and breath of knowledge
into the workings of the court, plus his considerable base of appellate
case law has proven to be an indispensable asset when taking on
an appeal.
